Cyril William "Butch" Davaz passed away peacefully on December 6 th surrounded by family and friends.
Butch was born in Newport on August 30, 1952 to Robert and Clara Davaz. He spent most of his childhood in Priest River and moved to Orofino during his high school years. In 1971 he married Celeste Luffman and they raised two beautiful daughters. After retiring from the Ponderay Newsprint in 2005, he did a bit of snow birding before settling back in the Priest River area.
He met his best friend, Pamela Sumner (Nelson) in 2008 and they married in 2009. They built a wonderful life together enjoying fishing trips, road trips, and trail rides on their side by side. Butch enjoyed life and dabbled in many hobbies including flying remote-control planes and tying flies. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed hosting get-togethers.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents Bob & Clara and his sister Debbie Turner. He leaves behind his soul mate and wife, Pamela Davaz, his beautiful daughters Bobby Jo (Stacy Stang) and Rami Jo (John Fitzmorris), his stepchildren James Sumner (Hannah McGlothin), Brice Sumner (Sara Riggins), and Michaela Sumner, 5 grandchildren: Taylor Stang (Amber Enyeart), Daniel Stang, Nyssa Stang (Spencer Mullaley), Johnna Fitzmorris (Jeron Konkright), and Gregory Fitzmorris and 7 great grandchildren: Kaytlin, William, Allison, Aaralyn, Madison, Sadie, & Sydney; brother Robert Jr., sisters Cheryl and Mary Jo as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Godspeed Butch! We love you and you will be missed more than you can possibly imagine. Because of you this world was a better place. Heaven is getting an amazing angel.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 11 am on January 18 th at the Priest River Event Center with a reception to follow.
