Clifford Snow was born in Spokane, Washington, to Virginia and Casper Fields January 23, 1938. His mother divorced Fields and remarried Francis Snow who adopted Cliff.  Virginia passed away in 2003 and his brother Clarence passed away in 2017. His poodle Precious passed away in 2019. Cliff and his beloved Precious were inseparable.

Cliff attended North Central High School and graduated in 1956. While at North Central in Spokane, Cliff enjoyed the shop classes most of all. Wood working shop and auto shop were his favorites. In his senior year Cliff would actually teach the shop classes while the instructor was gone. He held many jobs as a teenager, mowed lawns, painted houses, drove his uncle's tractor to plow the fields on Five Mile Prairie.

At the age of nineteen he began working for the Spokesman Review as a fleet mechanic. He held this job for seven years. After that he did road construction and was the shop foreman at Barton Oldsmobile. In 1970 Cliff moved to Diamond Lake full time and in 1976 built the building on Highway 2, Snow Sales and Service. At the same time, he rebuilt his home on Diamond Lake. Cliff noticed his insurance for his gas station was very high. He donated the property next to his gas station and thus, his pride and joy, Fire Protection District 3 of Pend Oreille County was formed. This later became South Pend Oreille Fire and Rescue. In 1993 Cliff sold the gas station and convenience store he had built. Cliff then went to work for Eagle Electric as manager and later for Lowes as manger. He retired from Lowes to be able to spend more time on the lake. His hobbies included, restoring Century wooden boats, wildlife photography, bird watching, snowmobiling, motorcycle trips, and generally helping anyone that needed help and friendship.

Cliff was well-known for the caring of Diamond Lake. He served as president of the Diamond Lake Improvement Association. Cliff was well-known around the lake as a kind, intelligent man whom everyone and anyone could go to for the history of the lake, and general help whether it was building a tree house for his neighbor kids or shoveling out everyone in winter and of course, mechanical and construction work.

Cliff Snow will be missed by all. His smile when he saw you invited conversation and help for all ages.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 26th at 2:00PM at the Newport Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Sherman-Campbell Funeral Home Reception Hall.
