Christopher Jay
Carstens
Feb 27, 1967 — Jul 7, 2025
Uskj
The family is saddened to announce the very unexpected passing of Christopher "Chris" Carstens. Chris was born in Newport, WA, to LeRoy "Bud" & Eyvonne Carstens on February 27, 1967.
He grew up "all boy," playing outside, and was very mechanically inclined. He helped Bud on the logging truck and could move the truck as needed at the age of 5. Chris attended Cusick School and graduated with the Class of 1985, and very recently attended his 40th class reunion.
Following high school, he achieved his degree in diesel mechanics. His work history took him all over Washington state, Priest Lake, North Dakota, Montana & Pennsylvania. One of his most treasured jobs was being hired by the Pend Oreille County Road Department in 2019. His coworkers became a valued part of his life. He loved being able to work close to home. Chris was honest and always reliable to his family, friends, and work. He was always willing to lend a hand to others with his equipment or expertise.
He is survived by his brother Randy (Bonnie) Carstens, sister Tina "Lynn" Carstens-Boone, nephew Sean Hoisington (Karlina), niece Lisa Biss (Jack), niece Bambi (Matt) Burke, and nephew LeRoy Heaton (Cherie Perez) and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, "Bud" & Eyvonne, sister Cindy (Randy) Hoisington, brother-in-law John Boone, and nephew Nathan Carstens. Chris's legacy also lives in the many lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and steady presence.
A special thank you to the Pend Oreille County Road Department for all their assistance. At Chris's request, there will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Usk Community Hall C/O Marsha at 1901 Riverbend Loop Road, Cusick, WA 99119-9677.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. You can reach the family at Randy Carstens: P.O. Box 1095, Newport, WA 99156
