Cherilyn ("Cheri") Ann Anderson (Darroch) passed away on Tuesday December 7, surrounded by family at her home near Newport, Washington. She went to be with our heavenly father after fighting a nearly 18 year-long battle against Ovarian Cancer.  She was 82.

She is preceded in death by her mother Agnes ("Billie") and father George, stepfather Orin and Harold as well as stepmother Edna, stepsister Karen and stepbrother Max, both living in Australia at the time of their passing.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Arnold ("Arnie") as well as her half-sister Dawn and stepbrothers Doug and Gene as well as her three children Timothy, Jaime, and Kelli, sons in law Tracy and Nakia, and two grandchildren, Kelcy, and Derek.

Cherilyn, a lifelong lover of animals—especially horses-- served as a Spokane Rodeo Princess and competed throughout much of her life showing Arabian Horses including developing a breeding program that would eventually produce national champions.  She graduated from North Central High School (Class of 1957) and attended Lutheran Bible Institute, Pacific Lutheran University as well as Kelsey Bard Business College where she graduated. Married to a Lutheran Minister, she served as a supportive cheerleader of her husband's ministry in diverse parishes from a frontier congregation in Fairbanks, Alaska--Six years after Alaska gained statehood, to a mega church in Burien Washington, and a small farm town congregation in Albany, Oregon.

She was also an accomplished artist whose heirloom caliber work traveled the world; graced magazine covers and at one time Frederick and Nelson Flagship Seattle Department Store and The Seattle Design Center recruited her to consider contributing to their offerings.  She was instrumental in the conversion of a little-used Burien Chapel into a Norwegian Prayer Sanctuary filled with hand painted Rosemaling and although her style was diverse, she applied a love of color, composition, and historical accuracy to any project she approached whether rooted in Scandanavian, Russian, or Americana traditions. She was a long-time member of The Society of Decorative Painters.

A private burial service was held on December 16, 2021, at Newport Cemetery. Donations can be made in her name to Priest River Animal Rescue/Shelter in Priest River, Idaho.
