Charles Marshall McCoy, April 21st, 1945—September 30th, 2025.

Charles Marshall McCoy, 80, of Usk, WA, passed peacefully in his home on September 30th, 2025.

Chuck was born in Nampa, ID in 1945 to Donald and Rose McCoy.  Chuck attended grade school in Marsing, ID and graduated high school in Nampa in 1963.

After school, Chuck stayed with his sister Rosalie and her family for a time in eastern Oregon, where he helped work the hay fields. Despite severe hay fever that left him miserable each day, Chuck quickly earned a reputation as the hardest worker, best bucker, and all the local farmers competed to have him on their crews.

After a few years of farm work, Chuck joined the Air Force in 1967 and served in Thailand during the Vietnam war as a jet mechanic.  Chuck loved aviation and took private pilot lessons after his time in the service.

After serving his term, Chuck spent a bit more time in the hay fields before starting his career as a contractor, first working for a large company and later starting his own business, McCoy Building Co.  Chuck was a talented carpenter and countless buildings he constructed stand strong all over the northwest.

When Chuck finally decided to "retire," he returned to the passion of his youth, hay farming.  For many summers he leased and farmed over 200 acres of the Pend O' Valley.  Working the fields again with family and friends were some of the best times of Chuck's life.

Chuck will be remembered for his intelligence, craftsmanship, mechanical genius, strong work ethic, practicality, bluntness, dry humor, and the way he could say a lot with just a few words.  The stories of his encounters with Bigfoot and a famous apparition along MT Hwy 28 will continue to be told to future generations around the campfire.  Most important, Chuck will be remembered for his kind heart and the way he always went above and beyond to do whatever he could to try and help his family and friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his Father, Donald and Mother Rose, Step Mother Barbara McCoy, Brother Kenneth Broomhall, Sister Ann O'Niel, Daughter Stacy Epperson-Nordland, ex-wife Linda McCoy, and long-time partner Karen D Chapin.

He is survived by his sisters Rosalie Baker, Karen Narduzzi, and Sue Oien, brother Dale Broomhall, son Stephen McCoy, grandchildren Bradley Epperson, Channing Nordland, Isaac McCoy, Jace Arbour, and Sasha McCoy, as well as dear friends George Davis, Sheryl Cratty, Eric Mason, Christina Richards, the Ducharme Brothers, and many others he touched along the way.

An informal pot-luck and remembrance of Chuck's life has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 5-7pm, at the American Legion Hall in Cusick, WA (105 Timber St).  An internment at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
