In Loving Memory

It is with heavy and broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Casey Randal Holter, who left us on August 21, 2025. Born on December 7, 1990, in Skagit County, Washington, Casey touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and independent and minimalistic spirit.

Casey is a cherished member of the family; a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin, a boyfriend and a good friend to all who knew him. Throughout his life, Casey dedicated himself to his education and career, graduating from Selkirk High School and continuing to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University then finally obtaining his professional engineering license. He started his career in Seattle and quickly learned the city is no place for a country boy.  Casey continued a family legacy of working in the hydroelectric industry when he secured a term-limited position with Seattle City Light at the Skagit Project. At the conclusion of this position, he went on to Grant County PUD and then finally fulfilled a dream of moving home to Seattle City Light's Boundary Dam in Metaline Falls where he was promoted to Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Casey was an outdoorsman who loved hunting up the Highline Road, Sullivan Mountain and taking annual trips to the former Taylor Ranch at Ekalaka, Montana.  Annual family pilgrimages to Starvation Lake for opening weekend of fishing and annual family camping at Sullivan Lake are traditions Casey held dear. Hanging around a campfire with family and friends was a favorite pastime. He loved hiking and camping, boating and fishing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and dirt biking. Just about anything that would give him an adrenaline rush.  Casey was a mostly self-taught guitarist, and everyone loved to hear him sing and play or be his next swing dance partner.

This past spring, Casey volunteered as an assistant baseball coach at Selkirk where he was able to give back to the community that served him during Selkirk youth sports.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in person or by mail to:

Casey is survived by his loving family.  Parents, Randy and Cecy Holter, sister Desiree Holter and husband, Steve Rose, sister Natasha McCanna and fiancée, Brandon Block, sister Courtney and husband, Jack Cerenzia, nieces Raelyn, Finley, Gracyn, Elainey and nephew, Axel. Grandparents, Jim and Judy Volquardsen and Marieta Holter.  His Uncle Bear, Aunt Lynn, Uncle Shawn and Aunt Amy.  Cousins: Heather, Kyle, Brittany, Kindra, Lacey, Damon and Kaylee in addition to several second cousins. His girlfriend, Natasha Weidig. Casey is preceded in death by his Grandpa, Gene Holter and followed by his Aunt Debby.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Sam Nicholas Gymnasium, Selkirk High School, 10372 Hwy 31, Ione, Washington at 11 a.m. where friends and family are invited to gather in memory of Casey's remarkable life with food provided by the American Legion Auxiliary afterward in the Multipurpose Room.

Casey will forever be remembered for his independent personality and ability to fix most anything as well as his compassion, strength, and the joy he brought to those around them. His incredibly deep and lasting hugs are greatly missed, and Casey's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the communities where he lived. May he rest in peace. We love you faster than a race car.
