(Beatrice) Carol Lucas went home to the Lord August 6th, 2021 at the age of 80 and ½.

She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully slipped away that morning.

Carol was born to Ralph and Dolly (Carol) Wright December 9th, 1940 in Newport

Washington. As a child growing up she was known by her family and close friends as snooks

and was blessed to grow up around lots of family spending quality time at the ranch her mother

grew up on. She loved the outdoors and the adventures that came with the ranch. One could

say she was a bit of a tom boy for sure. Stories of her and her cousins walking the high beams

of the family barn or swinging out the upper story window and landing on a pile of hay were just

a few of the things that always brought a smile to her face. She also loved riding horses and on

occasion found herself on the ground with a cousin, on looking after a mishap with one of the

horses. Sledding and gathering to play games were also high on the list of activities she

shared.

Carol attended school in Priest River and graduated High School there as well, and on

summer breaks she would go and work in a family gas station and grocery store in Napa Idaho

where she would meet the love of her life Lynn Lucas. They fell deeply in love and were

married May 28th, 1959 the same year she graduated.

A couple of years later they started their own little family, first a daughter then two sons.

She loved being a mother and a homemaker, wanting to stay home as her children were little

she took in sewing for others as this was yet another talent she had. As the kids grew she took

on clerking at the local grocery store and also clerking in Oldtown. Later after moving out of

town to Holley Glen she drove a bus for the school district and landed the route that her kids

would ride. Little did her kids know that if they weren't at the bus stop she would drive up to the

house to retrieve whichever kid hadn't made it to the bus stop. She was also known for in-home

caregiving for the last 20 years which would be the job she finally retired from.. Although she

hadn't changed companies, the name had changed several times.

Carol was an active member in the church she grew up in where she taught Sunday

school, VBS and Joy in the morning. She was always sharing her love for the Lord. She had a

passion for missions and went on several trips to New Life Border Ministries where she

preached, taught and spoke at, Hands of Luke Orphanage in Juarez Mexico, Arbol De Vida

Orphanage in Guadalupe Mexico, and Temple Shalom Church in Fabens Texas were three

places where she shared her love for Jesus and had a translator. If you knew her you would

say she was a gifted preacher and teacher of the Bible. Later she attended West Branch Bible

Church which became her church family that she cared so much for and built lifelong friendships

with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She also shared her testimony there recently. Here she

would remain for several years until the Lord called her home. Carol was also an ordained

minister and she always said the only thing she hadn't done was a baptism. She was the

speaker for a celebration of life funeral in Riverside for a distant cousin years back and a year

ago she was the officiant for the wedding of her granddaughter.

As the family grew in generations and the great grands were born, she would not be

snooks but would receive a new nick name from one of her great granddaughters and be known

as Nene for the last 16 plus years. She was blessed to have lived long enough to grow to 5

generations and be called great great grandma.

Carol had many hobbies and wasn't afraid to try her hand at anything. She was a

talented oil painter on canvas as well as metal saws and a member of the Evergreen Art

Association, going to many art shows and displaying her art here in town at the local drive-in

which was known as the Dew Drop Inn. She sold almost all of her paintings either at shows or

locally. For years she has been a judge in the art division at the fairgrounds in Sandpoint with

her long time friend Carolyn Sherman. She also loved to sew and quilt on a long arm machine,

she would call it stitches of love. Carol also enjoyed picking berries, playing games with the

family, having adventures on her 4-wheeler and target practicing with her grandkids. She even

got her concealed weapons permit. Her biggest enjoyment besides her love for the Lord was to

gather and spend time with her family that she loved very much. She said each family member

was a treasure and blessing to have.

Carol will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Kerry (Lucas) Johnston

and spouse Rick Johnston, Robert Lucas and his spouse Connie (Kisner) Lucas, Bill Lucas and

his spouse Colette (Douglas) Lucas, 13 grandkids, 17 great grandkids, 1 great great grandson,

her brother Ralph Wright and sister-in-law Judi (Russell) Wright, multiple nieces and nephews

and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lynn Lucas, her parents Ralph and

Dolly Wright, 1 great grandson Logan Lusby, and multiple aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held at Sherman-Campbell Funeral home in Priest River 43

Wisconsin St. August 28th at 1pm. Graveside service follows as we lay both Lynn and Carol

Lucas to rest. Dinner to follow and be announced after the service.
