Auggie Merideth Watson

January 3, 1943 – June 29, 2026

Auggie 83, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2026.

Born on January 3, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, to John A.H. Watson Sr. and Hazel Clara (Ringenbach) Watson, Auggie lived a life defined by unwavering faith, genuine compassion, and a servant's heart. Whether through music, a home-cooked meal, or a simple conversation, he sought to reflect the love of Christ in everything he did.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John A.H. Watson Sr. and Hazel Clara Watson; his brother, John A.H. Watson Jr.; his sisters, JoAnne Miehm and Betty Ann Barley; his beloved wife, Janice Watson; and his son, Auzzie Watson.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Leatha Traphagan; his brother, Timothy Watson; his sister, Grace Ellen Dolly; his children, Suzzie Price, Auddan Watson, and Surran Bailey; along with many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

Music was one of God's greatest gifts to Auggie. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, he also played the piano and guitar, wrote original songs, and recorded several CDs and cassette tapes throughout his life. He never viewed music as a performance—it was his ministry. He faithfully shared the Gospel through song at churches, Newport Health Center, River Mountain Assisted Living in Newport, Washington, and Valley Vista and Vista View in Sandpoint, Idaho. His music brought peace, encouragement, and hope to countless people, and many came to know him as a man whose songs reflected the joy of his faith.

Another expression of Auggie's love for others was found in the kitchen. He loved to cook and often catered meals for special occasions, believing that sharing food was another way to bless people and bring them together. His table was always open, and his generosity was freely given.

Auggie also loved God's creation. He enjoyed camping, gardening, spontaneous road trips, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. He possessed an adventurous spirit and a remarkable ability to build, fix, create, or learn almost anything he set his mind to.

A proud veteran, Auggie served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller at Malmstrom Air Force Base. Throughout his life he embraced many professions, including chef, owner of a printing business, owner of a carpet cleaning business, vacuum salesman, and several other trades. Whatever the task, he approached it with diligence, excellence, and integrity.

More than his talents or accomplishments, people will remember Auggie for the way he made them feel. He welcomed everyone without judgment or prejudice. He listened with compassion, encouraged those who were hurting, and treated every person with dignity and respect. His life was a quiet testimony to God's grace, and his actions consistently reflected the faith he professed.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in knowing he is now singing in the presence of the Savior he loved and served so faithfully.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Auggie's life, share memories, and give thanks for the legacy of faith, music, kindness, and unconditional love he leaves behind.

His greatest desire was never fame or fortune, but simply to love the Lord, serve others, and share God's message through music. His songs may have ended here on earth, but we take comfort in knowing they continue in Heaven. His legacy of faith, compassion, and joyful service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He didn’t just sing about God's love—he lived it.
