Arley Sue Hagman, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away at her home in Nordman, Idaho on January 7, 2024. Arley Sue leaves behind her mother Betty Hagman, brothers Gary (Anne) Hagman, Ken (Allison) Hagman, nephews James, Will, Jack, Brian, and Jeff, and niece Gabby. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hagman. Born in Spokane Washington August 2, 1948, she moved with her family to Priest Lake as a young child, where she contentedly spent the majority of her lifetime. Growing up at the Lake, she became very interested in the area's natural environment, genealogy and history, passions that continued throughout her whole life. She loved hiking and camping and anything to do with nature. Tending her garden and harvesting wild berries and mushrooms were favorite pastimes. Arley Sue was a loving dog mom to many dogs over the years and they were always considered her family too. Arley Sue attended the Lamb Creek and Nordman elementary schools, graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Priest River, earned undergraduate degrees at the College of Idaho, then received her teaching certificate at Boise State University. Arley Sue will be most remembered within the Priest Lake community for her many years of dedicated teaching at Priest Lake Elementary as well as her volunteer work at the Priest Lake Museum. She brought awareness of our area's native fauna and flora and its rich history to many children and adults. All who knew her will recall her steadfast dedication to whatever task was at hand and her firm, caring way of teaching and guidance. While her career and life pursuits meant so much to her, Arley Sue's family and friends will remember her for her dedication to them. She helped her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles through advanced age and declining health, including many years spent wintering with her mother in Arizona, which took her away from her beloved Priest Lake. She was a friend to many and was always there to lend a helping hand, whether it was a quietly delivered meal, raking leaves, or helping fold laundry when you needed it most. Her family and her friends will miss her and her kindness immensely.
