Annie Bell English, 95, of Priest River, Idaho, passed away on May 1 st, 2026, surrounded
by family. Annie Bell, born in 1930, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and
friend. She was born to Marvin and Nettie White in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was
the fourth of five children.
She met and married David Gordon Hollaway when she was 18, and they had four children
together. They also cared for fifty-three foster babies during their time living in
California. Annie Bell was awarded "Mother of the Year" by San Diego County in 1965.
Her hobbies included spending time on the beach with her children, which earned her
the title "Surfer Annie", taking trips into the desert camping, hiking, and exposure into the
shooting arts as her husband was an avid marksman. This gained her familiarity and
respect for firearms and safety. She then earned the nickname "Pistol Packing Annie".
David and Annie moved to Priest River in 1979. Here, they made many new friends,
attended church, and enjoyed exploring the outdoor activities this area has to offer.
Annie never missed an opportunity to ride along with her son in his logging truck to see
the beautiful scenery on the backcountry roads.
David and Annie experienced tragic losses when losing both sons. After the
Unexpected losses of her sons, Annie's husband, David, also passed away in 1999.
Several years later, Annie met Joseph English, and they married. They were able to
share many exciting adventures, travelling from Alaska to the Swiss Alps, Italy, Hawaii,
and several camping trips with their 5 th wheel camper across the lower 48 states.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Nettie White, siblings; Doris,
Cleo, Buster, and Bonnie: sons David Marvin Hollaway and Edward Gordon Hollaway;
late husband David Hollaway. She is survived by her husband, Joseph English, daughters
Annette Peterson (Kevin), Karen Dingerson (Mark Miller), and grandchildren Anais Brown
(Gary), Russell Shriver, Olivia Proctor (Brian), David Hollaway "Little Dave", and great-
grandchildren Trevor and Blair Low, Allesandra and Benjamin Shriver.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the VFW Post 2909 Auxiliary
in Priest River.

A funeral service will be held On Friday May 8th, 2026 at 11 AM at the Sherman Campbell Funeral Home in Priest River, Idaho with an open casket viewing beforehand from 10AM to 11AM.  After the 11AM service there will be a graveside commital at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho.
